I spend FAR too much time dreaming of my own wedding. Usually people wait until they have a fiancé, or at the very least a partner, before planning their aesthetics but I’m devoted to my storybook vision.
Working in jewellery I meet brides day-to-day, so I’ve become familiar with the ever standing discourse of how to accessorise for your big day. So let’s say you’ve found the one (your wedding dress of course, never mind soulmates), it’s now time to find your sparkle! These are the top 5 tips I’ve found along the way.
1 – Make It Personal
Your wedding is the perfect time to wear something with meaning. Have you inherited jewellery from a loved one that’s just not your style, or have gemstones you don’t wear? Consider remodelling – carry the sentiment in your own style! Prioritise personal over Pinterest, trends come and go but your wedding day is forever.
2 – Fancy A Gem?
Luxurious satin or silk goes perfectly with diamonds, vintage lace looks stunning with coloured gems and when in doubt, always choose pearls!
3 – Find Your Balance
If you have a heavily decorated dress, it would be complimented by simpler jewellery. On the other hand, a less adorned dress encourages statement jewellery!
4 – Know Your Colour
If you can’t choose between silver and gold, let your dress do the talking! Pure white gowns suit white metals (silver, white gold or platinum). Ivory gowns are best accessorised with yellow gold, and rose gold is gorgeous for a less traditional vibe!
5 – Match Your Neckline
I’ve saved the most important for last! High necklines suit statement earrings, strapless styles love a statement necklace, bateau necklines are perfected with a strand of pearls and plunging V’s deserve a sparkling pendant.
